Ministry Of Sound NYE Live at The O2 Arena

The O2 Arena, SE10 0BB

31st December 2009

Not content with their special Gallery celebrations at home in Elephant & Castle, Ministry of Sound are spreading their seed far and wide this New Year with a second, and infinitely larger party at The O2 Arena. Going head-to-head with O2 neighbours Matter, where Sven Vath's Cocoon comes to play to see in 2010, the MOS Live NYE Party is set to have 15,000 revellers partying to the likes of award-winning French electro duo Justice, Calvin Harris, Plump DJs, Deadmau5, Eric Prydz, Example and Dave Spoon all through the night. It's an all-star line-up which should see tickets sell like hot-cakes - even with their frightening £75 price tag (come on, it is the bigest NYE party to take place in Europe after all). Accompanying the massive headline performers, there will be some spectacular visuals specially created for the event, with breathtaking lighting, pyrotechnic displays and an aerial walkway which will see the artists perform along an LED-lit stage high above the crowd. If you like your NYE parties huge and bombastic, MOS at The O2 Arena is hands-down the place to be this December 31st. Yes, you read that correctly: that's 15,000 people!!

Date: 31st December 2009

Matter at the O2 Arena, SE10 0DY

German techno superstar Sven Vath brings the Cocoon family down to South East London to see in the New Year with 2,600 revellers at Matter. It will be the Greenwich super club's second New Year's Eve party following last year's riotous affair and Vath's third headline set at Matter after the huge success of the first two Cocoon events in London earlier in the year. Also taking over the venue on the last night of 2009 is the first lady of deep house, Cassy, plus regular Cocoon Ibiza guest Andre Galluzzi, Leftroom boss Matt Tolfrey, Matter resident Yousef and Cocoon's own Dorian Paic. The stellar line up will help usher happy party people into 2010 and a new decade with some of the best house and techno on the market - so snap up (the relatively inexpensive, all things considered) tickets while you can.

Get Loaded In The Dark! NYE Party

Brixton Academy, SW9 9SL

31st December 2009

The O2 Academy Brixton sees in the New Year with this special one-off Get Loaded in the Dark! party featuring the likes of Simian Mobile Disco and Annie Mac. Despite the name, this is not a black-out beano where money is blown through the club's air vents like in the final challenge of the Crystal Maze. In fact, it's brought to you by the people behind Clapham Common's outdoor summer festival Get Loaded in the Park! and claims to have "the most exciting and diverse line-up in the UK this New Year's Eve". With "a very special guest" yet to be named playing the midnight set in the main area, this boast still needs clarification, but alongside the acts already mentioned, there will be performances by the likes of Chase & Status, Sub Focus, Golden Silvers and Herve. The party takes place across three rooms, including the main arena area, and with tickets priced from £30 and drinks available at "normal" bar prices, you shouldn't start 2010 minus an arm and a leg.

Venue: Brixton Academy

Phone: 0844 847 2467
Date: 31st December 2009

Fabric New Year's Eve Party

Fabric, EC1M 3HN

31st December 2009

The way the calendar falls this year makes a night out at Fabric's Live NYE party all the more appealing. With the raucous event lasting a full 12 hours until 9am on the Friday morning, hardcore revellers can get their 2010 off to a charged start safe in the knowledge that there's still a whole weekend to recover until it's time to stagger back to work. It's a pretty fantastic line up on the night, with Andy Weatherall, one of the best-loved figures in modern dance music, headlining and support coming from the likes of Craig Richards, Ivan Smagghe, Jamie Jones, Jesse Rose, Joe Goddard of Hot Chip, Rub N Tug, Terry Francis, Toddla T, MC Serocee, Zinc (playing a house set) and many more still to be confirmed. While these NYE celebrations may not be as manic as Fabric's 10-year anniversary earlier in October - for which the club kept its doors open for a full 32 hours - it should still be a hearty slice of hedonistic fun to round off what has been a really depressing year. So let your hair down and go for it all guns blazing.

Camden's KOKO asks you to refresh your glass with something posh and welcome Reverend and the Makers for their Club NME NYE Ball. After all the live acts, you'll be able to find the key and dance the way you feel way into the early hours with DJ sets from regular Jeff Automatic and hot new gun Ed Wilder. It's been a tough year for many people so it's a welcome tonic that Good Times looks to bring back the sunshine into everyone's lives with their NYE party to round off a miserable 2009. It's affordable, fully licensed and should attract around 1,500 people to dance the night away and look to the future with open arms. Music comes from the rare groover Norman Jay himself, plus Loud Minority DJs and some special guests. DJ Hero sponsor.

Guilty Pleasures NYE Party: The Rise & Fall of the Roman Empire

Vinopolis, SE1 9BU

31st December 2009

For the first time ever, Guilty Pleasures are hosting their own NYE party with a special Rise & Fall of the Roman Empire themed night. And where better to host this Bacchanalian feast of extravagance and debauchery than Vinopolis, home of fine wines that would have graced the table of any emperor, however twisted. The South Bank oenology and wine tasting venue has never been used for a club night, but with its high vaulted ceilings and resplendent oak floors, it should prove the ideal place to party like its 52 BC. Keeping in line with the decadence of the Roman Empire, this should be a night for flowing togas, gladiator sandals, swathes of silk and velvet, gold adornments, ripped centurions, lions, and the likes of Caesar, Tiberius, Boudicca, Livia, Cleopatra, Spartacus, uncle Clau-Clau-Claudius, Frankie Howard, stuffed door mice, grapes, goblets, eunuchs and perhaps the odd orgy. Much like Guilty Pleasures' nights at KOKO, the music will be a celebration of all things pop. The main room will be hosted by Sean Rowley and Anna Greenwood with a performance from the glitteringly camp cherubs Sbandxxx.

Venue: Vinopolis
Address: 1 Bank End, SE1 9BU

You'll be served a welcome cocktail on arrival by a resident Santa Fraulein before being invited to tuck into a full hot and cold Bavarian Buffet and raise a glass of complimentary champagne when the clock strikes twelve. A DJ will play German and international europop songs for you to dance the night away to, while there be a steady flow of beer served up in special two-pint sized glasses at the bar.
